Zane Yi PhDFebruary 28, 2015: The speaker is Zane Yi, PhD, Assistant Professor, Loma Linda University School of Religion. His topic is: "Telling a Better Story: Reasoning About Religion in a Secular Age."

yiMarch 28, Yi Shen Ma, PhD Candidate, Claremont Graduate University. Topic: "Only A Community that Does Not Fear Death Can Be Truly Political: Toward a Christian Politics of Virtue in the Age of the Nation-State." Yi Shen Ma is a third year Ph.D. student in Claremont School of Theology. He is the Development Director of Adventist Peace Fellowship and Adjunct Professor at La Sierra University. Prior to his service in the United States Navy as a religious program specialist, he worked as a young adult pastor. His doctoral research focuses on the theological ethics of Stanley Hauerwas, the common good and globalization, and the contemporary retrieval of the ethics of Thomas Aquinas.

Chris BlakeMay 30, Chris Blake, PhD,Associate Professor of English & Communication, Union College, Lincoln, Neb.; writer (Searching for a God to Love), editor (Insight magazine) and youth speaker. He and his wife, Yolanda, have two grown sons. Topic: “Why a New Earth Perspective Matters.” Dr. Blake will be extending and deepening concepts about the new earth as explored in his current book, Rowboat or Kayak? He will also include writings from a manuscript in progress. 


Calvin ThomsenJune 27, Calvin Thomsen, Assoc. Professor, School of Religion, Loma Linda University. His topic: “The Social/Organization Function of Religious Doctrine and Implications for the Elasticity of Belief.”
Sabbath, July 25, Chapel, at 1:00 p.m. (note the change in time!). This special Forum will feature a report from the GC Session July 2015. Bonnie Dwyer, editor, Spectrum Magazine; Dr. Larry Geraty, professor & president emeritus, La Sierra University; Jared Wright, editor, Adventist Forum website, and other staff will present. The topic is: “What Now? Adventism After San Antonio.” All are welcome! A potluck lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.
